Dating from 1816-18 the Neue Wache (Guard House) is located near the Unter den Linden (Berlin). The building has been used as a memorial of victims since 1931. There were many different victims dependent of the authorities. Now the Neue Wache is dedicated for victims of war and tyranny. There is a sculpture inside. It's an enlarged copy of Käthe Kollwitz's "Mother with her dead son". Oculus is under this sculpture. Snow, cold and rain symbolize the suffering of civilians.
